I am Ashha D.Raj, a passionate cook and this blog is a tribute to my mom, “Baby Amma”, who was an awesome cook and her culinary skills were praised by all the dear and near. She hailed from a renowned authentic family where all the ladies down the generations had excellent cooking skills.  

 

 

Whenever she cooked for guests who were due to visit our home, it was always a wide spread and she was not satisfied with a small spread. She was not only meticulous from buying and storing groceries and vegetables but also had specifications on where to buy each one. She would never taste the food as she cooks, but just from the smell, she would know whether the salt or sweet in the dish was sufficient or not. She  never approved my cooking nor allowed me to cook till she was alive. Basically I have seen her culinary magic and have grasped from her, all the tiny whiny details.

 

 

I started to explore my cooking skills only after her demise. Even today as and when I cook I would recollect many specifications she would expect in a dish. She has left behind an old diary where she has dotted her recipes and I vividly remember her telling me that “ What will you do after my demise? How will you cook and serve your family? I don’t know. I shall write them for you and I hope you shall use them after me”.

For me she was a CULINARY PRODIGY and remains to be so in the hearts of the people whoever tasted the food she cooked. Like she said, that diary was my best guide to improvise my cooking skills and I would say my family members were my guinea pigs  to encourage me and to develop my cooking skills.As my children grew up and brought their friends home, I loved to serve them and as I got good reviews from them too, I decided that the treasure my mom had left should get a wide reach and hence was the advent of this blog. 

ALL THE RECIPES HAVE BEEN TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE YEARS.
