This is a very easy dish which is well known in the Kongu belt -Coimbatore.
Arsiparupu sadham is known for to give a hand at advent of sudden guests or for a lazy day.The rice cooked with dhal and spices is simply delicious and healthy as well.

Ingredients :
Rice 1 cup
Mixed dhal ¼ - ½ cup ( mixed dhal )
Bay leaf 2
Cinnamon 1”
Mustard ¼ tsp
Urad dhal ¼ tsp
Turmeric ¼ tsp
Red chilly powder ½ tsp (to taste )
Onion 1 ( chopped )
Red chilly 1
Curry leaves a few
Coconut ½ cup ( grated )
Coriander leaves to garnish
Salt to taste
Oil & ghee 1 ½ tbsp
Method :
In a cooker heat oil ,ghee add bay leaf ,cinnamon ,let it splutter.
Throw in mustard and urad dhal ,allow it to splutter.
Add onions ,red chilly and curry leaves ,let it get brown.
Add turmeric powder ,asafoetida ,red chilly powder and toss.
Add water ( 3 cups ) , washed rice dhal ,coconut ,salt , coriander leaves ,give it a mix .
Close and cook ( 10 – 12 min )
Open after pressure is released ,mix gently.
Drizzle ghee for an enhanced taste.
Serve hot with pickle ,appalam.
