Bread Caramel

Updated: Oct 31, 2020

One of the easiest of puddings !!

This recipe means a lot to me ,since this was my first recipe i learnt in my adolescent age in a cooking class conducted by moms friend. That was my first step to one of the greatest art called "COOKING " .

Whenever any one at home has a sweet tooth, just jump at this for the ingredients will be available at home and consumes less time.

All my dear and near have adapted this recipe in their respective household and whenever guests swing by their way they make it a point to have this as desert.

Serves : 4

Cooking time : 30 min

Ingredients :

Bread 10 slices (cubed )

Milk ½ lit / 500 ml

Butter 1 tbsp

Sugar 10 tbsp

Raisins 10

Cashew 7 -10

Vanilla Essence 1 tsp

Method:

In a flat bottomed vessel add I tsp of sugar and caramelize it & set aside.

In another vessel boil milk with sugar , allow it to boil once and switch off the flame.

Add cashew , raisins , butter ,essence and give it a stir.

Now add the chopped bread slices and mix ,it will thicken .

In case if you find that its watery can add 1 or 2 bread slices more.

When it comes to room temperature transfer it to the caramelized vessel.

Now close it with a foil and let it steam for 15 to 20 minutes.

Now take it out of the steamed vessel and allow it to get to room temperature.

Then shift it to the refrigerator ,let it cool well.

Once it is cool turn it on it a plate such that the caramelized side is on the surface.

Note :

Brown bread is used in this recipe.

But you can also use white bread. Also the brown sides of the bread can be cut and only the white part can be used.

One can also use any other dried fruits and nuts .

Over ripe fruits like banana or apple can also be used .
