Channa Masala

All time favourite !!

Stands out in a spread always !!

One of the scrumptious Dishes which steals the hearts easily . This is very special and usually a dish for the kids lunch box ,which they really enjoy .Also its loaded with protein and taste as well.


Serves : 4

Cooking Time : 30 min


Ingredients :

Cooked channa 150 gms

Cinnamon 1”

Oil 1 ½ tbsp

Salt to taste

Coriander leaves to garnish


Fry in oil & grind :

Onions 2

Tomatoes 2

Ginger ¼ “

Garlic 2-3 pearls

Cinnamon 1”

Fennel ¼ tsp

Poppy seeds ¾ - 1 tsp

Chilly powder ¾ - 1 tsp

Turmeric powder ¼ tsp

Coriander powder 1 tsp


Method :

In a pan heat oil add onions , curry leaves ,toss it.

Add the whole species and toss.

Add turmeric and toss.

Add tomatoes , ginger and garlic ,give it a toss.

Then add coriander powder ,chilly powder and toss.

Grind it to a smooth paste .

In a vessel heat oil ,throw in cinnamon ,let it splutter.

Add the ground paste with water and cooked channa ,give it a mix.

Cook well till raw smell leaves and oil seperates.

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with roti / puri.
