Chettinad Chicken Masala

Authentic Masala !!

Mouth Watering , highly recommended !!

My mom's signature dish and was definitely my mom's favourite too.She was specific that the onions and tomatoes are seen to the eyes and it does not get overcooked .And of course it adds a lot to the aesthetic value.



Serves 4

Cooking Time 50 min


Ingredients :

Chicken 500 gms ( legs )

Onions 2 - 3 (sliced )

Tomatoes 2 (chopped )

Curry leaves few

Oil 2 tbsp

Coriander leaves a bunch

Fry in oil and grind:

Small onions 10

Red chilly 6-7 ( to taste )

Coriander seeds 1 – 11.5 tbsp

Turmeric ¼ tsp

Curry leaves a few

Oil 1 tsp (castor oil )


Method :

Add the ground masala with water and salt to the chicken pieces,close with a lid and cook till meat is tender.

In a wide pan heat oil add onions fry till transparent.

Add tomato , curry leaves ,fry till mushy.

Now add the cooked chicken pieces and fry well.

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Suits rice / chapathi / dosa.
