Ghee Rice

A simple and easy to do rice dish, which is mild in spices yet bursting with flavors. The pleasant aroma of the spices just fills the house when it is getting cooked and makes it an enjoyable meal from kids to the elders.This rice dish is so versatile that it goes well with any kind of veg/non veg gravies.





Serves: 2 to 3

Cooking Time : 25 mins


Ingredients :


Jeeraka samba (or) Basmathi - 2 cups

Ghee - 2 to 3 tbsp

Cardamon - 5 to 6 nos

Cinnamon - 1 inch (2 nos)

Salt to taste


Method :

In a pressure cooker or pressure pan add ghee when it is hot add cardamon and cinnamon ,wait for it to splutter.

Add the washed rice and roast in the ghee for about 3 to 4 mins.

Now add water for the rice. For 2 cups of rice, 3 cups of water is added.

(For basmati/Jeeraka Samba 1 : 1.5 ratio, for ex: 1cup rice :1.5 cup water)

Add salt to taste.

Close the lid and let it cook on slow fame for 10 min.

Open the lid and gently mix the rice for even spread.

Serve hot with any gravy.
