Green Ridge Gourd Peel Chutney

Ridge Gourd Peel Chutney is very tasty and high in fibre as well. The Ridge gourd peel which is usually discarded can be used for its taste and its nutrional value. When its blended with fried aromatic dhal ,coconut and tamarind ,we get a delicious chutney.

Serves : 3

Cooking Time : 20 min


Ingredients :

Green chilly 4

Chhana dhal 11/2 tbsp

Urad dhal 11/2 tbsp

Tamarind ½ “

Ridge gourd Peel 1 cup ( approx. of 1 ridge gourd )

Coconut 1 cup ( grated )

Curry leaves a few

Coriander leaves a bunch

Salt to taste

Method :

In a pan heat oil, throw in green chilly and curry leaves ,give it a toss.

Add chhana dhal and urad dhal and fry till slight brown colour.

Add tamarind ,coriander leaves , ridge gourd peel ,salt and give a mix.

Close and cook for few minutes .

Open the lid and give a toss.( make sure its dry )

Transfer it to a mixer jar and coarsely grind it.

Transfer to a bowl.

Tamper it with mustard ,urad dhal ,red chilly and curry leaves. (optional )

Serve with hot rice ,dosa, idly.
