Ivy Gourd Chutney

Ivy Gourd is a very tough vegetable ,but this chutney simply drools.

This a very easy to make ,yet very tasty. The sesame seeds is the main ingredient which enriches the flavour of the chutney when ground with the other ingredients.



Serves : 4

Cooking Time : 20 min


Ingredients :

Ivy Gourd 1 cup ( chopped )

Big Onion ½ ( chopped )

Garlic 2 ( pearls )

Tamarind ½ ‘

Curry leaves a few

Green chilly 2

Sesame seeds 1 tsp

Puffed gram 1 tsp

Coconut 1 tbsp

Salt to taste

Oil 1-2 tsp


Method :

In a kadai heat oil add green chilly and curry leaves ,let it splutter.

Add the onions and garlic ,toss well ,as it slightly changes colour ,transfer to a mixer jar.

Now add sesame seeds and fry well till it pops.

Add tamarind ,give a toss and transfer to the same mixer jar,

Now add oil if need be and fry the ivy gourd with salt till is cooked .( on low flame) Transfer this also to the mixer jar.

Now to this add coconut , puffed gram and grind coarsely.

Transfer it to a dish.

Tamper it with mustard ,urad dhal ,curry leaves and red chilly.( optional )

Serve with idly / dosa /rice .
