Kongu style Kadala Kuzhambu

Kadala Kuzhambu all time favourite , which can never go wrong by amateurs too !!

The spices blended with coconut and tamarind ,when cooked with the lentils is simply aromatic !!



Serves : 3-4

Cooking Time : 30 min


Ingredients :

Sundal Kadalai 150 gms ( soak overnight )

Small onions a few ( chopped )

Curry leaves a few

Mustard ¼ tsp

Urad dhal ¼ tsp

Oil 1tsp


Fry in oil & grind to a paste :

Small onions 10 -15 nos

Red chilly 3-4 ( to taste )

Turmeric ¼ tsp

Cumin ¼ tsp

Coriander seeds 1 tbsp

Coconut 1 cup ( grated )

Tamarind 1’’


Method :

Boil the sundal kadalai in a cooker .( 5-7 whistles )

Release the pressure and check if its cooked.

Add the ground paste ,with salt and sufficient water .

Tamper with mustard ,urad dhal ,onions ,curry leaves ,red chilly (optional ) and add to the masala mixture .

Allow it to boil till raw smell leaves .

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with rice ,puttu ,dosa .
