Murg Irani / Iranian Chicken

A rich creamy gravy makes one go drooling over .It is good as a single dish,otherwise can be called as the king of dishes.



Serves : 4

Cooking Time : 30 min


Ingredients :

Chicken 500 gms

Onions 2

Cream 1 cup

Curd 1 cup

Almonds 6 -7 ( chopped or paste )

Red chilly powder 1 ½ tsp

Cardamom powder ¼ tsp

Ginger garlic paste 11/2 tsp

Lime ½

Oil & ghee 11/2 tsp


Method :

Squeeze ½ lime to the chicken.

Add red chilly powder ,cardamom powder and mix well , set aside for 30 min .

Heat oil and ghee together in a heavy bottomed vessel.

Add onions and fry .

Add some salt and ginger garlic paste and fry well till raw smell leaves.

Time to add chicken and toss well.

Add curds and mix in some water .

Almonds paste or chopped can be added and cover and cook till soft.

Time to add the cream and allow it to simmer for a couple of minutes.

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with ghee rice / roti / dosa.


Note :

Almond paste gives a nice creamy texture whereas chopped almond gives a nutty texture.
