Mutton Saag

Highly recommended !!

Mutton with greens or spinach is a beautiful combination .This steals hearts of many.

The gravy is so creamy with the pureed spinach and the spices lifts the taste.




Serves : 4

Cooking Time : 45 min

Ingredients :


Mutton 500 gms

Green chilly 5-6 (optional )

Ginger garlic paste 1- 11/2 tsp

Red chilly powder 1- 11/2 tsp

Coriander powder 1tsp

Spinach a bowl

Onions 2 ( chopped )

Tomatoes 2 ( chopped )

Turmeric ¼ tsp

Bay leaf 2

Cardamom 2

Cloves 2

Cinnamon 2'

Oil 1- 11/2 tsp

Salt to taste


Method :

Blanch the greens in boiling water . Set aside to cool and blend it to a smooth paste.

Add the mutton marinated in turmeric to a cooker.

Add the whole species , salt ,ginger garlic paste , green chilly ( optional ) and water, cook till meat is tender. ( approx. 7-8 whistles or 10 – 15 min ).

In a pan heat oil add onions allow it to brown.

Add tomatoes and allow it to turn mushy.

Now add the cooked meat with red chilly powder ,coriander powder and let it simmer for 5 min.

Now add the pureed greens and cook till raw smell leaves.

Serve hot with rotis or rice.
