Palak Millet Pongal

Must Try !! Simply a super Finger licking concoction !!

Iron from the palak & protein from dhal & millet is a finger licking Palak Millet Pongal which is healthy as well.It will be no doubt a super hit in a spread.



Ingredients :-


Palak                       1 cup ( cleaned,blanched & Pureed )

Millet                      1 cup ( kodo /banyard /little )

Greengram dhal    ¼ cup

Ginger                       ½ tbsp chopped

Cashew                     10 -12 pieces

Curry leaves            a few

Pepper                      ½ tsp

Cummin                    ½ tsp

Grren chilly             1or 2

Ghee                           1 tbsp

Oil                                1 tbsp

Salt                               to taste

Asafoetida                    a pinch

Coconutmilk                ½ -1 cup


Method :-

Wash the dhal and millet ,set aside.

In a pressure cooker /pan heat the ghee & oil.

Once it’s hot add the  pepper ,cumin,green chilly,cashew.

Fry till it’s brown.

Now add the pureed palak ,give it a toss.

Add the washed dhal & millet with asafoetida & salt , give it a toss.

Add coconut milk and water ( 2 – 2 1/2 cups ).

Check the salt and pressure cook for 15 – 20 min.

Serve hot with sambar /coconut chutney /tomato chutney.


Note :-

It had to be served pipping hot to get the best taste.
