Rajma and Potato Kuzhambu

Protein Rich Curry !!

Tasty Rajma with potato is blended well with species ,tamarind and coconut .This is kids friendly and a good idea for lunch box . This is usually loved by kids and was a weekly affair when my kids were school going.


Serves : 5

Cooking Time : 40 min


Ingredients :

Rajma ½ cup ( soaked overnight)

Small onions a few ( chopped )

Potatoes 2 ( diced )

Mustard ¼ tsp

Urad dhal ¼ tsp

Curry leaves a few

Oil 11/2 tbsp

Salt to taste


Fry in oil and grind :

Red chilly 2

Small onions 10

Curry leaves few

Coriander powder ¾ tsp

Puffed gram 1 tbsp

Tamarind 1”

Tomato 1

Coconut 2 tbsp


Method :

Pressure cook the rajma with turmeric and chilly powder ( optional ).

Once its cooked add the ground paste , salt and water ( if need be )to the cooked rajma and stir.

In a pan heat oil add mustard ,urad dhal ,onions and curry leaves , allow it to brown.

Add potatoes and toss it.

Add it to the rajma mixture and simmer till potatoes are cooked and raw smell fades away.

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with rice /roti/doas /idly.
