Spicy Pumpkin Curry / Gumidikai Pulusu

A taste bud teaser !!

This spicy curry is a sure shot and it can never go wrong.Also it steals the hearts of foodies.Whenever there was a vegetarian spread for guests at home ,this was always there.



Serves : 4

Cooking Time : 30 min


Ingredients :

Pumkin 200 gms ( big cubes )


Tamarind extract 1 cup

Brown sugar 1 tbsp

Curry leaves a few

Red chilly powder ¾ tsp

Turmeric powder ¼ tsp

Mustard ¼ tsp

Urad dhal ¼ tsp

Gingely Oil 1 tbsp

Salt to taste


Method :

In a kadai heat oil , throw mustard as it splutters add urad dhal ,allow it to brown.

Add curry leaves ,now add the tamarind juice let it boil for a few minutes.

As it boils add red chilly powder , turmeric & salt.

Vegetable and mix ,close and cook till soft.

Add brown sugar and cook on slow flame till oil float on the top.


Serve hot with rice ,roti or dosa.


Note :

This curry will stay for a couple of days.
