Yummilicious Rice !!!

Always a big Hit !!

The aromatic rice with the tomato puree and whole species is a taste bud treat ,which serves as good choice for lunch box as well.This dish would always be at a sure shot in our house hold when there was vegetarian spread.

As kid this was one of my Favorite !!

Serves : 3

Cooking time : 40 min


Ingredients :

Seerakasamba 1 cup

Cloves 2

Cardamom 2

Cinnamon 2

Bay leaf 1

Green chilly 2

Garlic 4-5

Onions 1

Tomato 2 cups

Curry leaves a few

Red chilly powder ½ tsp

Turmeric ¼ tsp

Oil & ghee 11/2 tbsp


Method :

In a pressure pan or cooker heat the oil and ghee ,add in the whole species and let it splutter.

Throw in garlic ,green chilly curry leaves and toss.

Add in onions and let it change color.

Add in washed rice and give it a toss.

Now add tomato puree ( if necessary water can be added ratio being 1:2 ,1 rice water and puree 2)

Add all the powders with salt give it a quick mix .

Close the lid and cook under pressure for 10 – 15 min.

Release the pressure and give it a stir .

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with raita.
