My mother’s signature dish , with strong flavor of lime .Was a must have dish, when guests were home for tea.One of her cousin brother would visit her and specifically ask to cook this for him.It can be easily prepared since it requires minimalistic ingredients and can be made quickly.

Ingredients

  • Semolina 1cup
  • Mustarad 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dhal ¼ tsp
  • Greenchilly 3 [chopped ]
  • Curry leaves a few [chopped ]
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbs [chopped ]
  • Lime juice 1-2 tbsp [to taste ]
  • Turmeric ¼ tsp
  • Cashew 4 [chopped ]
  • Oil &ghee 2 ½ tbs
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • Dry roast the semolina for a couple of minutes.
  • Boil around 2 cups of water and keep it aside.
  • In a pan heat oil ,add mustard as it splutters add urad dhal as it turns brown add the chopped cashew chilly, curry leaves ,turmeric and saute for a minute.
  • Now add a cup of boiling water to the pan ,as the water is boiling add semolina slowly and stirring it, making sure lumps are not formed. Add lime juice and stir it . Simmer it and close it with a lid and cook for 7 – 10 min .
  • Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.
  • Usually served as high tea with coconut chutney.
