Famous Andhra dish ! !

Fiber and protein enriched dish !!

The making is simple and easy , good on the health too .

Ingredients :

  • Broken moon dhal 1 cup ( dhal with skin recommended )
  • Rice 3-4 tbsp ( optional )
  • Green or red chilly 3-4
  • Cumin 1 tsp
  • Hing ¼ tsp
  • Ginger ½ “
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • Soak the dhal for min 3-4 hrs. ( over night also suits ) Grind all the other ingredients first a bit ,then add the dhal , grind to a coarse paste.
  • The consistency should be such that it can be poured with a ladle .
  • The batter is ready to be used, fermentation is not necessary.
  • On a heavy bottomed pan pour the batter and make a round out of it ,drizzle oil on it , cook well on slow flame .When it is browned turn it on the other side and allow it to brown.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney / avakai pickle / curds / raita.

Note :

  • Finely chopped onions, chilly , grated coconut can be added to the batter to enhance the taste.
