Bottle Gourd Rice

A simple wholesome meal !!

Healthy and tasty.

This serves good for a lazy day or for a quick fix.

Ingredients :

  • Rice 1 cup
  • Moong dhal 3 tbsp
  • Bottle Gourd 1 cup ( chopped )
  • Onions 1
  • Green Chilly 1
  • Red chilly 2
  • Red chilly powder ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Coconut 2 -3 tbsp
  • Turmeric ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 1 1/2 tbp
  • Mustard ¼ tsp
  • Urad dhal ¼ tsp

Method :

  • In a cooker heat oil ,add mustard ,urad dhal allow it to splutter.
  • Add onions ,green and red chilly with curry leaves .
  • Time to add chopped bottle gourd and toss.
  • Add chilly powder, turmeric and toss.
  • Now add the washed rice and dhal mixture with 3 cups water.
  • Add salt , coconut and coriander leaves.
  • Mix well .Close and cook under pressure for 10 to 15 min.
  • Release pressure and give it a mix.
  • Drizzle ghee on top.
  • Serve hot with ghee , papad and pickle.
