All time favourite dish !!
Children’s BEST LOVED dish.
Ingredients :
- Raw rice 1 cup
- Idly rice 1 cup ( ir 20 / white car )
- Uradh dhal 2 tbsp
- Fenugreek 1 tsp
- Coconut ½ cup ( optional )
- Soda –bicarb a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Sugar ½ tsp ( optional )
Method :
- Soak all the rice and dhal together . (min 4-6 hrs /overnight )
- Wash it well and grind it to smooth paste with coconut and salt.
- If sugar is opted to add ,now add it and mix well.
- Allow it to ferment overnight or 4-6 hrs .
- Add a pinch of soda –bicarb to the fermented mixture.
- Make appam in the iron pan.
- One big spoon for each appam , close and cook.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney / stew / chilly powder chutney / coconut milk.
