Spicy Moong Dhal Sambar

Spicy Moong Dhal Sambar is all time favourite . A simple yet drooling dish which satisfies the taste buds always. The blending of coconut with fennel and green chilly gives a special flavour . This makes one go hand licking and crazy.

Ingredients

  • Moong dhal 1 cup ( cooked )
  • Onion 1 ( sliced )
  • Tomatoes 2 ( chopped )
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Red chilly 1 ( broken )
  • Mustard ¼ tsp
  • Urad dhal ¼ tsp
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Grind to paste :

  • Coconut 2-3 tbsp
  • Green chilly 2-3 ( to taste )
  • Fennel ¼ tsp

Method :

  • In a pan heat oil, throw in mustard let it splutter.
  • Throw in urad dhal ,let it splutter.
  • Throw in onions ,curry leaves and red chilly ,allow it to change colour .
  • Add tomatoes ,allow it to get mushy .
  • Add the cooked dhal with salt.
  • Add the ground paste with water according to required consistency. Give it a good mix.
  • Allow it to boil till raw smell fades away .
  • Garnish with coriander leaves .
  • For an enriched taste drizzle ghee .
  • Serve hot with idly / dosa.
