All time favourite dish !!

Children’s BEST LOVED dish.

Ingredients :

  • Raw rice 1 cup
  • Idly rice 1 cup ( ir 20 / white car )
  • Uradh dhal 2 tbsp
  • Fenugreek 1 tsp
  • Coconut ½ cup ( optional )
  • Soda –bicarb a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar ½ tsp ( optional )

Method :

  • Soak all the rice and dhal together . (min 4-6 hrs /overnight )
  • Wash it well and grind it to smooth paste with coconut and salt.
  • If sugar is opted to add ,now add it and mix well.
  • Allow it to ferment overnight or 4-6 hrs .
  • Add a pinch of soda –bicarb to the fermented mixture.
  • Make appam in the iron pan.
  • One big spoon for each appam , close and cook.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney / stew / chilly powder chutney / coconut milk.
