Makanna / Lotus seed is a simply beautiful ingredient which is turned into kheer which is a delicious and irresistible.The saffron with milk,sugar and makkana leaves a drooling outcome.

Ingredients :

  • Makanna 100-150 gms
  • Milk 1 lit
  • Saffron a pinch
  • Sugar ½ -3/4 cup sugar (to taste )
  • Raisins 15 nos
  • Cashew 10 nos
  • Ghee 1-11/2 tbsp
  • Cardamon powder a pinch

Method :

  • In a pan heat heat ½ tsp and fry the cashew , raisins and set aside.
  • In warm 2-3 tbsp of milk add the saffron and set it aside.
  • In the same pan add the makanna and fry well.
  • Set aside a handful and crush it coarsely .
  • The rest can be powdered in a mixier jar.
  • Heat milk in a heavy bottomed wide pan,let it reduce to ½ quantity.
  • Now add the powdered makkana and let it boil for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add sugar and cook till the raw smell fades away.
  • Now add the milk with saffron,fried cashew and raisins.
  • Switch off the flame and add cardamon powder,mix well.
  • The crushed makkana can be added now.
  • Serve hot /cold.
