Festive must haves !!

A classic sathvic food !!

A pongal with classic variation and certainly a healthy treat .This is very light on the stomach too.This is a very nutritious and is permitted on fasting days too.

Ingredients :

  • Sabuana a cup
  • Moong dhal 2 tbsp
  • Cashew 6-7
  • Ginger ½ tsp ( chopped )
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Cumin ½ tsp
  • Pepper ¾ tsp
  • Coconut 1-2 tbsp
  • Green chilly 3 ( optional )
  • Asafetida a pinch
  • Ghee 1 – 2 tbsp

Method

  • Dry roast the sabudana & moong dhal .
  • In a pan heat 11/2 cups of water , as it boils add salt and sabudana & moong dhal ,mix well close with a lid and cook till soft.( approx 10 -15 min )
  • In a pan heat ghee add pepper , cumin allow it splutters .
  • Add the chopped ginger , green chilly , curry leaves and cashew ,allow it to brown and add it to the cooked sabudana mixture and mix well.
  • Add asafetida , coconut and lime juice and mix well .
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney .
