Poosanikai Pachadi / Pumkin Raita

What makes this raita /pachadi different is the blend of coconut and ginger which makes the taste totally unique.

Ingredients :

  • To grind to coarse paste:
  • Coconut 4 tbs [grated ]
  • Green chilly 2 nos
  • Ginger ¼ inch

To season:

  • Mustard ¼ tsp
  • Urad dhal ¼ tsp
  • Red chilly I no [broken ]
  • Curry leaves 6 to 7 nos
  • Coconut oil ¾ tsp
  • Pumpkin 200 gms [chopped ]
  • Curds 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves a few [garnish ]
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • Cook the chopped pumpkin in water with a pinch of salt .If you find there is ample water strain it a little.
  • Now add the ground paste to it and give it a boil and switch off the stove.
  • Tamper it with mustard , urad dhal ,red chilly curry leaves.
  • When it cools to room temperature add curds.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve it with hot rice.
