Spicy Tomato Thokku is one of favourite of the household and is present there on the weekly menu without fail. This is a very suitable side dish for the South Indian breakfast or dinner. The tanginess of tomato with species is simply delicious .

Ingredients :

  • Tomato 3-4 (pureed )
  • Onions 1 ( sliced )
  • Turmeric ¼ tsp
  • Red chilly powder ½ – ¾ tsp ( to tase )
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard ¼ tsp
  • Urad dhal ¼ tsp
  • Oil 1 tbsp

Method :

  • In a pan heat oil ,throw in mustard ,urad dhal ,allow it to splutter.
  • Add onions ,curry leaves ,green chilly ,turmeric and toss till onions are transparent.
  • Add the pureed tomato ,chilli powder ,salt and boil till raw smell leaves.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves .
  • Serve hot with Pongal , Dosa , Iddly .
