Ivy Gourd is a very tough vegetable ,but this chutney simply drools.

This a very easy to make ,yet very tasty. The sesame seeds is the main ingredient which enriches the flavour of the chutney when ground with the other ingredients.

Ingredients :

  • Ivy Gourd 1 cup ( chopped )
  • Big Onion ½ ( chopped )
  • Garlic 2 ( pearls )
  • Tamarind ½ ‘
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Green chilly 2
  • Sesame seeds 1 tsp
  • Puffed gram 1 tsp
  • Coconut 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 1-2 tsp

Method :

  • In a kadai heat oil add green chilly and curry leaves ,let it splutter.
  • Add the onions and garlic ,toss well ,as it slightly changes colour ,transfer to a mixer jar.
  • Now add sesame seeds and fry well till it pops.
  • Add tamarind ,give a toss and transfer to the same mixer jar,
  • Now add oil if need be and fry the ivy gourd with salt till is cooked .( on low flame) Transfer this also to the mixer jar.
  • Now to this add coconut , puffed gram and grind coarsely.
  • Transfer it to a dish.
  • Tamper it with mustard ,urad dhal ,curry leaves and red chilly.( optional )
  • Serve with idly / dosa /rice .
