Beetroot Chutney

A very spicy chutney ,the sweetness of the vegetable with chilly and tamarind gives an amazing taste.

Ingredients :

  • Beetroot 1 no [medium size –peeled and grated ]
  • Red chilly 3 nos
  • Channa dhal 1 to11/2 tbs
  • Urad dhal 1 to 11/2 tbs
  • Tamarind ½ “ piece
  • Coconut 2 to 3 tbs [grated]
  • Oil 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • In a kadai heat oil add channa dhal as it changes colour add urad dhal ,when that browns add chilly,then add the grated beetroot and fry for 7 to 10 minutes on slow fire.Switch off the flame ,add coconut tamarind and salt. When it turns to room temperature grind it to coarsely .
  • Suits well with steaming rice,dosa ,iddli.
