My favourite chutney !!
This was my grand mothers specialty !!
In the earlier times when a mixie was not prevalent ,she would just mix it well with her hands.She would always use old tamarind mentioning that would only give a good taste, but of course the colour was not appealing.
Ingredients :
- Coconut 1 cup
- Cumin ¾ tsp
- Puffed gram 1tsp
- Curry leaves a few
- Red chilly powder ½ tsp
- Tamarind extract 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Method :
- Grind all the ingredients to a coarse paste.
- Transfer to a cup.
- Tamper it with mustard ,urad dhal and curry leaves . ( optional )
- Serve with Appam ,idly ,dosa.
