A Kovai style curry , is a very special blend of all the spices with coconut makes it enjoyable .This is a suitable side dish for all such as idly , dosa, roti rice,bread.Usually this kind is made in the rural areas.
Ingredients :
- Chicken 500 gms
- Oil 1 -2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric ¼ tsp
- Onions 3-4 ( chopped )
- Red chilly 1
- Curry leaves a few
Fry in oil & grind to paste :
- Onions 15
- Red chilly 10
- Garlic 6-7
- Ginger ½ ‘
- Coconut 2 tbsp
- Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
- Cinnamon 1
- Cloves 2
- Cardamom 2
- Poppy seeds ½ tsp
- Fennel ½ tsp
- Curry leaves a few
Method :
- In a pan add oil and fry all the mentioned ingredients and grind .
- In a pan heat oil add mustard as it splutters add onions ,red chilly and curry leaves, let it allow it brown.
- Add chicken & the ground paste with required amount of water and salt, close and cook till meat is tender and raw smell leaves.
