A very flavorful biriyani .

Simple yet a bowl with a delicious punch and the tasters go drooling over it.No one can resist a second helping , and the taste lingers with your taste buds for a longer duration.

Ingredients :

  • Prawns 250 gms ( cleaned & deveined )
  • Jeeraka samba 1 cup ( washed )
  • Mint leaves 3 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Lime juice 1 tbsp ( to taste )
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 1/2 tsp
  • Onions 1 ( chopped )
  • Tomato 2 (chopped )
  • Red chilly powder ¾ tsp ( to taste )
  • Green chilly 2 – 3 ( to taste )
  • Turmeric ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 1 – 2 tbsp ( coconut oil recommended )

Method

  • Marinate the prawn for 30 min with ½ tsp ginger garlic paste , turmeric and chilly powder.
  • In a heavy bottomed vessel heat the oil toss the prawns for 5 minutes and set aside.
  • In the same oil toss in the onions ,fry till brown.
  • Now add the tomatoes ,green chilly and allow it to get mushy.
  • Time to add ginger garlic paste and give it a toss.
  • Now add water ( 2 – 21/2 cups ) of water ,allow it to boil.
  • Add the chopped mint ,coriander leaves ,rice and salt.
  • Stir it close with a lid and cook on slow flame for 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Check whether the rice is cooked.
  • Now add the prawns and lime juice and mix well .
  • Keep it for few minutes and serve hot with raitha.

Note :

  • Coconut milk can be used too with water for an enriched flavor.
