This rasam comes handy on lazy or rainy or no mood to cook day.It’s a special also a sought after dish at our household.It was one of my favourite as a kid ,as my grand mom would make it in a jiffy at the advent of unannounced grand children or guests .Serve it always with home made vadagam ( orukullu ) .This persists as a comfort food at times for me .
Ingredients :
- Green chilly 1
- Red chilly 1
- Small onion 2-3
- Curry leaves a few
- Mustard ¼ tsp
- Ghee ½ tsp
- Sambar powder ¼ -1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves to garnish
- Lime juice 1 tsp(to taste )
Crush in a pestle:
- Pepper ¼ tsp
- Cumin ¼ tsp
- Coriander seeds ¼ tsp
Grind in a mixer jar:
- Tomatoes 2-3
- Garlic 3-4 pearls
Method :
- In a pan add the ground tomato mixture and crushed ingredients .
- Add ½ glass water,salt,sambar powder and turmeric.
- Let it boil for a couple of minutes,till raw smell fades away.
- Now time to season ,heat ghee add mustard ,chillies curry leaves,onions,as color changes add to the rasam .
- Add lime juice.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve with hot rice and applam /vadagam.
