Sabudana Semolina Pongal

A unique combination of sabudana ,semolina with coconut milk results in a yummy dish ,which is very very special and goes one drooling over it. This was one of my moms singnature dish which was definetly on spread on special occassions especially on my kids birthday party . My favourite one too.

Ingredients :

  • Sabudana 1 cup
  • Semolina 1 cup
  • Coconut milk 2 cups
  • Ginger 1 tsp ( chopped )
  • Pepper ¾ tsp
  • Cumin ¾ tsp
  • Cashew 4-5
  • Green chillies 2
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Asafoetida ¼ tsp (optional )
  • Ghee 3 -4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • In a pan dry roast the sabudana and semolina separately and set aside.
  • In a pan heat the coconut milk as it boils add the roasted semolina , sabudana with salt (asafoetida ) close and cook till done.( if necessary add water with coconut milk to cook)
  • In another pan heat ghee add cumin,pepper,green chillies curry leaves,ginger ,and cashew and fry it well ,add it to the cooked sabudana and semolina mixture and mix well .Generously add ghee for an enhanced taste.
