A spicy rasam which was given when one has nose runs bad throat /fever.When one is recovering after a bout of sickness this is the best remedy.With pumping of medicines ones taste buds are almost stand still ,this would bring it slowly back to form.

Ingredients :

  • Red chilly : 2 nos
  • Small Onions : 7 to 8 nos
  • Tomatoe : 1 no [large chopped ]
  • Coriander powder : 1 tsp
  • Pepper : 3/4 tsp [ to taste ]
  • Cumin/jeera : I tsp
  • Tamarind : 1’ piece
  • Ghee /clarified butter : 1 to 2 tsp
  • Mustard : ½ tp
  • Curry leaves: 6 to 7 nos
  • Garlic cloves : 3 nos
  • Coriander leaves : few springs[ to garnish]
  • Salt : to taste

Method :

  • In a kadai heat 1 tsp ghee add red chilly ,curry leaves , onions and slowly fry till onions turn colour.
  • Now its time to add tomatoes and fry till they get mushy.
  • Add cumin ,pepper tamarind , and coriander powder and switch off the flame. Make a paste of this
  • In a kadai heat ghee add mustard when it splutters, add curry leaves ,then add the paste with water [according to the desired consistency ].Let it boil on slow flame till the raw smell subsides .
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • A big bowl of happiness !!!
