One of the sought after dish of the Bhutanese cuisine and considered as the national dish of Bhutan. It is basically made of Spicy Chilli (ema) and Cheese (datshi).Tried to get a fusion by adding some fresh veggies. Basically Bhutanese are rice eaters ,whereby it is incorporated in every meal .This dish is served with rice.

Ingredients :

  • Carrot 2 ( strips )
  • Potatoes 2 (stripes )
  • Bhaji chillies 3-4(chopped)
  • Capsicum 1 (cubed )
  • Onion 1 ( sliced )
  • Green chillies 3-4 ( slit ,to taste)
  • Dried Brown chilly 4-5 (chopped )
  • Cheese a cup grated ( two variety also can be used)
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method :-

  • In a pan heat oil add green chilly and onions, allow it to get brown.
  • Now add the brown chilly which is already washed in hot water and stir it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the veggies and give it a toss.
  • Now add ½ cup water ,give it a boil.Let the veggies be half cooked.
  • Now add cheese and give it a boil.
  • Serve hot with rice.

Note :

  • Baji chillies is otherwise called as Banana Chillies.
  • Other vegetables like Cauliflower,Brocolli ,Beans ,Peas ,Sweet Potatoe ,Radish can be used.
  • Cheese of your choice can be used.
  • The consistency can be determined to your choice.
