This is usually made as a good combo for Ragi kaali.

It is an easy one and fits in for a lazy day .The ingredients required is always available at home and hence its a gravy at convince and works as a rescue when there is vegetable shortage at home.

Ingredients :

  • Toor dhal ¾ tbsp.
  • Tamarind ½ “
  • Red Chilly 3
  • Coriander Seeds ¾ tsp
  • Cumin ½ tsp
  • Onions 10 -12
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Coconut 1 ½ tbsp.
  • Turmeric ¼ tsp
  • Onions 1 tbsp ( chopped )
  • Mustard ¼ tsp
  • Urad dhal ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 11/2 tsp

Method :

  • In a pan heat oil add toor dhal ,tamarind and fry well till a nice aroma of the dhal comes.
  • Then add onions and fry till transparent.
  • Add coriander seeds ,cumin and curry leaves ,fry till a nice aroma of coriander comes.
  • Now add the coconut and fry till the aroma of coconut comes.
  • Now grind this to a coarse paste.
  • In a pan heat oil ,add mustard ,urad dhal ,allow it to splutter.
  • Add onions and curry leaves fry till crisp.
  • Add the ground paste and give it a toss.
  • Add salt to taste and give a stir.
  • Add water to required consistency and allow it to simmer till raw smell leaves.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with rice/dosa/ idly/ kaali.
