Bottle Gourd or Lauki or Suraikai is a very easily available vegetable ,which is made into a delicious kheer which steals the show always. This a very affordable vegetable is transformed into a yummylicious desert.
Simple yet delicious , and its cooked in milk which enhances the taste to a different level. The saffron blends with the milk to give a slight yellow colour and the when the vegetable is cooked in the milk blends like best friends.
Ingredients :
- Milk 1 lit
- Raisins 10 -15
- Cashew 10
- Ghee 1 tsp
- Lauki 1 cup ( grated )
- Saffron few strands
- Sugar ¾ – 1 cup
Method :
- In a kadai heat ghee ,fry raisins and cashew separately ,set aside.
- In the same ghee fry the grated lauki till dry.
- Heat milk in a broad vessel ,let it become half the quantity.( keep stirring it on and off )
- Add a few saffron strands to the milk as it boils.
- Now add the fried lauki and let it cook .( 10 min )
- Switch off the flame at desired consistency .
- Garnish with fried cashew and raisins.
- Serve hot or cold.
