Sambar Love !! Must Try !!

Sambar is simply delicious .The dhal cooked with tomato is smooth and to enrich its flavour is the coconut milk .For a breakfast its definitely a super dish .Our households

favourite dish and is present every week .

Ingredients :

  • Toor dhal ½ ( cooked )
  • Onions 2 ( sliced )
  • Tomato 3-4 ( sliced )
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Red chilly 1
  • Sambar Powder ½ – ¾ tsp
  • Asafoetida ¼ tsp
  • Mustard ¼ tsp
  • Urad Dhal ¼ tsp
  • Coconut milk ¾ cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Oil 11/2 tbsp
  • Ghee 1 tbsp

Method :

  • Heat oil in a pan ,throw in mustard as it splutters add urad dhal let it get brown.
  • Throw in onions ,curry leaves and one red chilly ,allow it to get brown .
  • Throw in tomatoes and let it get mushy .
  • Add cooked dhal , sambar powder ,salt , asafoetida ,let it cook till raw smell fades away.
  • Then switch off the stove , add coconut milk ,mix well
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Drizzle ghee on top for a scrumptious taste.
  • Serve hot with idly / dosa/ pongal.
