Spicy Sweet Chutney is a wonderful flavourful chutney .The ingredients are very minimalistic and easily available at home. The combination of all the species with jaggery finally is the highlight. Spicy sweet chutney is all time favourite of our household.

Also it stays in the fridge for a couple of days. Earlier when food had to be packed for travel this was must have and goes well with rice ,roti , doas and idly

Ingredients :

  • Red Chilly 1
  • Small Onions 15 -20( small sized )
  • Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
  • Cumin 3/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
  • Tamarind 1′
  • Turmeric 1/4 tsp
  • Coconut 1 cup
  • Jaggery 1 tsp ( to taste )
  • Puffed Gram 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • In a pan heat oil add small onions ,red chilly ,curry leaves ,let it get brown.
  • Add coriander seeds , cumin , salt ,asafoetida ,coconut ,tamarind ,turmeric, puffed gram and toss.
  • Transfer it to a mixer jar ,add jaggery and grind it coarsely.
  • Transfer it to a vessel and tamper it if preferred.
  • Serve with hot rice / doasa /idly.
