Ivy Gourd is a very tough vegetable ,but this chutney simply drools.
This a very easy to make ,yet very tasty. The sesame seeds is the main ingredient which enriches the flavour of the chutney when ground with the other ingredients.
Ingredients :
- Ivy Gourd 1 cup ( chopped )
- Big Onion ½ ( chopped )
- Garlic 2 ( pearls )
- Tamarind ½ ‘
- Curry leaves a few
- Green chilly 2
- Sesame seeds 1 tsp
- Puffed gram 1 tsp
- Coconut 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil 1-2 tsp
Method :
- In a kadai heat oil add green chilly and curry leaves ,let it splutter.
- Add the onions and garlic ,toss well ,as it slightly changes colour ,transfer to a mixer jar.
- Now add sesame seeds and fry well till it pops.
- Add tamarind ,give a toss and transfer to the same mixer jar,
- Now add oil if need be and fry the ivy gourd with salt till is cooked .( on low flame) Transfer this also to the mixer jar.
- Now to this add coconut , puffed gram and grind coarsely.
- Transfer it to a dish.
- Tamper it with mustard ,urad dhal ,curry leaves and red chilly.( optional )
- Serve with idly / dosa /rice .
