Kadala Kuzhambu all time favourite , which can never go wrong by amateurs too !!
The spices blended with coconut and tamarind ,when cooked with the lentils is simply aromatic !!
Ingredients :
- Sundal Kadalai 150 gms ( soak overnight )
- Small onions a few ( chopped )
- Curry leaves a few
- Mustard ¼ tsp
- Urad dhal ¼ tsp
- Oil 1tsp
Fry in oil & grind to a paste :
- Small onions 10 -15 nos
- Red chilly 3-4 ( to taste )
- Turmeric ¼ tsp
- Cumin ¼ tsp
- Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
- Coconut 1 cup ( grated )
- Tamarind 1’’
Method :
- Boil the sundal kadalai in a cooker .( 5-7 whistles )
- Release the pressure and check if its cooked.
- Add the ground paste ,with salt and sufficient water .
- Tamper with mustard ,urad dhal ,onions ,curry leaves ,red chilly (optional ) and add to the masala mixture .
- Allow it to boil till raw smell leaves .
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with rice ,puttu ,dosa .
