Mutton with greens or spinach is a beautiful combination .This steals hearts of many.
The gravy is so creamy with the pureed spinach and the spices lifts the taste.

Ingredients :

  • Mutton 500 gms
  • Green chilly 5-6 (optional )
  • Ginger garlic paste 1- 11/2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder 1- 11/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1tsp
  • Spinach a bowl
  • Onions 2 ( chopped )
  • Tomatoes 2 ( chopped )
  • Turmeric ¼ tsp
  • Bay leaf 2
  • Cardamom 2
  • Cloves 2
  • Cinnamon 2′
  • Oil 1- 11/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • Blanch the greens in boiling water . Set aside to cool and blend it to a smooth paste.
  • Add the mutton marinated in turmeric to a cooker.
  • Add the whole species , salt ,ginger garlic paste , green chilly ( optional ) and water, cook till meat is tender. ( approx. 7-8 whistles or 10 – 15 min ).
  • In a pan heat oil add onions allow it to brown.
  • Add tomatoes and allow it to turn mushy.
  • Now add the cooked meat with red chilly powder ,coriander powder and let it simmer for 5 min.
  • Now add the pureed greens and cook till raw smell leaves.
  • Serve hot with rotis or rice.
