Potato Podimas is a simple dish but will be present in a veg spread at our household .This dish can never go wrong and steals the taste buds without fail. This was my favourite dish as a kid and it would always take a place in the lunch box every week without fail. If when there was a question what was wanted for lunch , this dish was definitely asked for.

Ingredients :

  • Potatoes 150 gms(boiled &smashed)
  • Coconut 2-3 tbsp (grated)
  • Small Onions 4-5(chopped )
  • Green Chilly 1
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Mustard 1/4tsp
  • Urad dhal 1/4 tsp
  • Channa dhal 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 1 tsp

Method :

  • In a pan heat oil ,throw in mustard ,urad dhal and channa dhal one one by one, let it splutter.
  • Throw in green chilly ,curry leaves and onions and toss, till the colour changes.
  • Now add the grated coconut and give a mix.
  • Add the potatoes ,salt and lime juice and mix well.
  • Let it blend well .
  • Serve hot with rice or roti.
