Easy and simple chutney which goes well with every thing be it Idli,Dosa,Chapathi or Toasted Bread.Strong taste of Pudina/Mint surprises the taste buds on every bite.

Ingredients :

  • Pudina leaves – one bunch
  • Green chillies – 3 to 4
  • Big onion – 1 no
  • Tomato – 1 no
  • Garlic – 2 to 3 pearls (optional)
  • Tamarind – 1/2 inch
  • Coriander leaves – one bunch
  • Curry leaves – 8 to 10 nos
  • Coconut – 1/2 cup (grated/desiccated)
  • Puffed bengal gram dhal – 2 tbsp (optional)
  • Oil – 1 Tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • In a pan heat oil fry green chillies, garlic and onion till transparent.
  • Add tomatoes when its mushy, add pudina leaves ,coriander leaves and curry leaves. Saute till a nice aroma from the pudina comes.
  • Switch off the flame.
  • Add coconut,tamarind,salt.
  • If you plan to add the dhal its time now to add.
  • Grind it to a coarse paste.

Variations:

  • The addition of dhal is for texture and increase the serving portions.
  • Also tomatoes can be considered optional, when we want a variety or change in taste we can omit it.
  • The sour taste will be less in the chutney if it is made without it.
